I have experienced firsthand when a horse suffers saddle-related discomfort. Once I was given the right saddle for my horse, he/she* began moving more smoothly, we achieved maximum results, and we both started enjoying riding again. I would like all horses and all riders at all levels to be able to share this experience.
My mission to support other equestrians as a saddle fitter was born from personal experience, and this desire only became stronger after taking an accredited course at Equine Saddlefitting Specialists. The course really opened my eyes to other types of discomfort and suffering that could have been prevented, as well as learning what I could personally do about it: fitting my clients’ horses with customized saddles.
Sharp and patient
Needless to say, the knowledge and experience I have acquired to date have helped me immensely in my work as a saddle expert. However, the way I approach my work is at least as important. I assess horses, riders and saddles with a sharp eye for detail. I also take the time I need, so that I am certain I take advantage of all the opportunities for improvement.
Partnerships with other experts
To ensure optimum wellbeing for horses, I work closely with a veterinarian, a veterinary physiotherapist, an equine osteopath, and a movement analyst for equestrians. This multidisciplinary approach leads to new insights, making it easier to find a solution. It means experts already have the background knowledge required at the time the horse is referred to them.

It turned out that we could only solve the problem by replacing the saddle, but fortunately Natalie had the perfect solution for that too. I’m extremely happy with my new saddle, and so is my pony. My problem was that my horse has a wide build and rounded ribs. In terms of posture and conformation, it slopes slightly forward, so I had trouble finding the right saddle. I’d basically already given up hope: all the saddles were either too tight, or they would press against my horse’s shoulder blade.
Thanks to Natalie’s patience and expertise and her willingness to really look into the issue and help provide solutions, we managed to find a saddle that’s a perfect fit for my horse. I’ve never seen my horse with such a smooth and relaxed gait!
